What Is Included on the Map?

Greenbelt Route and Trail Connections

The blue route follows the primary Scottsdale Greenbelt and Indian Bend Wash path through Scottsdale. The map also includes useful connections to nearby parks, Scottsdale Civic Center, Old Town and other destinations that can be incorporated into a longer walk, run or bicycle ride.

The Greenbelt is not a single traditional park. It is a connected system of paths, parks, lakes, recreation facilities, golf courses, public spaces and flood-control areas running through the center of Scottsdale.

Parks and Recreation

The map identifies parks located directly along or conveniently connected to the Greenbelt. Depending on the park, available amenities may include:

  • Playgrounds

  • Basketball courts

  • Tennis and pickleball courts

  • Baseball and softball fields

  • Soccer fields

  • Skateparks

  • Dog parks

  • Fishing lakes

  • Swimming and aquatic facilities

  • Outdoor exercise equipment

  • Picnic areas

  • Open grass fields

Click a park or recreation marker to learn what is available at that location.

Public Restrooms and Drinking Water

Public restrooms, drinking fountains and dog-water stations are mapped separately whenever possible. This is especially helpful for runners, cyclists, families and dog owners planning a longer outing.

Many of these amenities are located inside parks, libraries, recreation centers or public buildings. Indoor facilities may only be available during regular operating hours.

For a complete location-by-location list, visit the Scottsdale Greenbelt Restrooms and Water Fountain Map.

Public Art

Scottsdale’s public art collection is one of the most distinctive features along the Greenbelt and in the connected Civic Center area. The map includes sculptures, murals, environmental installations and artwork integrated into public buildings and recreation facilities.

Several projects contain multiple individual pieces. In those cases, the marker identifies the primary or most useful location for beginning your visit.

Visit the Scottsdale Greenbelt Public Art Map and Guide for artist names, completion dates, descriptions, official artwork pages and detailed location information.

Restaurants Near the Greenbelt

Restaurant markers help visitors find places to eat near different sections of the path. These include locally owned restaurants, cafés, breakfast locations, breweries, casual dining and familiar national options.

The restaurant guides are organized geographically so that you can find food near the section of the Greenbelt you are visiting.

Parking and Starting Points

There is no single entrance to the Scottsdale Greenbelt. Visitors can begin at numerous parks and public parking areas along the route.

Some of the most practical starting areas include:

  • Mountain View Park for the northern Greenbelt

  • McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park for families and McCormick Ranch

  • Chaparral Park for a central Greenbelt starting point

  • Indian School Park for access near Scottsdale Civic Center and Old Town

  • Eldorado Park for recreation and the southern Greenbelt

  • Vista del Camino Park for South Scottsdale and connections toward Tempe

Parking availability can change during sporting events, construction, festivals and other special activities. Visit the Best Places to Park for the Scottsdale Greenbelt for more detailed recommendations.

Choosing the Best Place to Begin

The best starting point depends on what you want to do.

Chaparral Park is an excellent general starting point because it is near the middle of the Scottsdale portion of the Greenbelt and offers access to the lake, paths, recreation facilities and nearby amenities.

Families with younger children may prefer McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, while visitors interested in public art, museums and Old Town may want to begin near Indian School Park or Scottsdale Civic Center.

Mountain View Park provides convenient access to the northern portion of the Greenbelt. Eldorado Park and Vista del Camino Park are useful starting points for exploring South Scottsdale or continuing toward Tempe.

Planning a Walk, Run or Bicycle Ride

The Greenbelt can be explored in short park loops, point-to-point trips or longer north-to-south routes. You do not need to travel the entire path to enjoy it.

Before leaving, use the map to identify:

  • Where you plan to park

  • The nearest available restroom

  • Drinking-water locations

  • Parks or attractions you want to visit

  • A comfortable turnaround point

  • Food or refreshments near the end of your route

Use the Scottsdale Greenbelt Distance and Elevation Calculator to estimate the length of a planned walking, running or cycling route.

Important Map Notes

Locations are mapped as precisely as available information and direct observation allow. Public facilities, access conditions, construction areas and operating hours can change.

Always follow posted park rules, temporary closures and City of Scottsdale instructions. Carry water during warm weather even when drinking fountains are shown along your route.
